Chris is the Principal of Lenz Moreton and has 20 years experience as a Lawyer and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia. He also practiced as a Chartered Professional Engineer overseas and within Australia, from 1976 to 1990. In this capacity, he worked as a Design and Consulting Engineer and Construction Contractor.
Chris has extensive experience and understands the needs of the Engineering and Construction Industry. He has an intimate knowledge of the issues confronting people within the industry.
Chris’ experience in the field provides a significant advantage for Clients in the industry because they are able to easily communicate with him as he knows and clearly understands their technical and commercial issues. Consequently, Legal Advice and representation is effective in dealing with all complex Construction matters.
His extensive Legal experience ranges from drafting and negotiating contracts, through the administration of construction projects with claims and defending claims, to dealing with disputes through the Courts, arbitration, mediation or negotiation.
He speaks German and successfully resolved a commercial contractual dispute with a German company. He has appeared as an advocate in all Court jurisdictions in Queensland including the Family & Federal Courts and the Commercial and Consumer Tribunal.
Chris has mediated well over 80 disputes, since 1990, and has adjudicated 20 disputes under the new BCIPA rapid payment legislation.
He is a Member of the Queensland Law Society, and holds a practicing certificate to practice in his own right as a solicitor. He is a Registered Adjudicator, Grade 3 Arbitrator and an Accredited Mediator with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia (IAMA) and is a Registered Adjudicator with the Queensland Law Society. Chris is also a member of Engineers Australia, is registered on the National Professional Engineers Register (NPER), and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).
